Coordinator EQ10 research group and Ass. Prof. at University of Vigo
Dra. Ana Moldes graduated in Food Science and Technology at the University of Vigo (UVigo) in 1996. She got her PhD in 2000, by the Chemical Engineering Department of the same University, with an additional Doctorate award. She has realized various research stays at USDA in Madison (USA) and at the Biological Engineering Department of University of Minho (Portugal).
She was a part-time Assistant Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of the UVigo from 2001-2006, and a researcher of the national «Juan de la Cierva» and «Ramón y Cajal» programmes from 2004 to 2010, at the same university. Since 2010, she has been a full time Associate Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of UVigo, creating her own research group, which focuses on the production of bioactive compounds from agro industrial residues.
To date, she has published more than 100 articles in international JCR journals, more than 10 book chapters and has realized over 120 presentations at international congresses. Additionally, she is the co-author of 5 patents, 3 of them related to the production and characterization of biosurfactants, and she has also participated in more than 20 research projects, being the main researcher in 4 «National Research Projects», the last one related with the application of biosurfactants in the cosmetic and personal care formulations.
Currently she is collaborating with international companies related to the cosmetic and personal care to obtain more biocompatible formulations and she is also supervising 7 Doctoral Thesis, 2 of them dealing with the incorporation of biosurfactants in cosmetic formulations, which will be presented in the next months. Finally, she is a regular evaluator for ANEP projects and for other international bodies.
